Sales Manager North America - Ceramic Powder Materials


To further penetrate the North American market, IKH is looking for its first Sales Manager based in the US. In this position, you will have the opportunity to leverage your contacts and sell top-notch ceramic powders “Made in Germany” into a variety of industries such as aviation, power generation, automotive, oil and gas, and mechanical engineering. You will have the opportunity to develop business in an almost untouched market, selling high-quality products that stand out from the competition. At the same time, you are backed by the strong team and solid foundation of IKH in Germany. The position will report directly to the CEO in Germany and you can work remotely out of your home office in the US.

Key responsibilities include

  • Increasing revenue by acquiring new customers and maintaining the existing client base within the US and Canada in the fields of thermal spray, sintering, hot isostatic pressing, and additive manufacturing
  • Prospecting and cold calling, maintaining consistent customer contact and communication along with persistent follow up to achieve targeted growth
  • Developing strong relationships with design and engineering departments and end-users on the shop floor
  • Analyzing and identifying customer potential and market trends
  • Maintaining call reports and communication regarding new business opportunities and market intelligence to IKH HQ
  • Analyzing competitor activities concerning products, pricing, promotions, and innovations
  • Attending national and international trade shows as required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science or Business OR equivalent professional work experience
  • Experience in a technical sales role, ideally selling ceramic powders or related materials
  • Experience selling into aviation, power generation, automotive, oil and gas, and mechanical engineering
  • Customer-oriented and strong at building lasting relationships
  • Independent self-starter with a hunter mentality
  • Persistent and dedicated to succeeding
  • Willing to extensively travel domestically and internationally and manage sizable territory
